Tucson, AZ (July 7th, 2018)- Tucson Police Department announced that a man was killed early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in southern Tucson.
The department spokeswoman, Sgt. Kim Bay, stated that Gabriel Ramirez was hit and killed in the intersection of South Fiesta Avenue and West Valencia Road.
According to witnesses and Bay, Gabriel Ramirez wasn’t walking in a crosswalk when struck, roughly around 2:30 in the morning.
According to Sgt. Bay, in a news release, “The driver was westbound on Valencia, (when) Ramirez ran in front. The driver was unable to stop (and) immediately pulled over and remained on scene. Gabriel Ramirez was not in a crosswalk. Detectives are continuing this investigation to determine if speed was a factor in this collision.”
It didn’t seem that Gabriel Ramirez was under the influence at the time of the accident, said Bay.
