Lane County, OR – One person was killed in a big rig collision in Lane County last week on Monday, according to Oregon State Police.

The accident took place on Highway 99 S near milepost 1.5 at around 3:28 p.m. on April 7.

According to the report, Josef Alexander Ward, 29, of Creswell, was driving a Toyota Matrix southbound when he slammed into the rear of a Kenworth log-truck that was stopped to make a left turn.

Ward was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The operator of the big rig, Christian James Gossett, 52, of Cottage Grove, was not hurt.

Authorities are working to determine the cause of the collision.
