Fiery Accident Kills One on I-40

(Sept. 25,2018) Joseph City, AZ-  Two semi-trucks collided, killing one of the drivers in a fiery accident along Interstate-40. According to the AZ DPS, the accident occurred around 2:19 a.m. on the westbound side of I-40 at milepost 277.

According to local officials, an eastbound semi-truck crossed the median and collided head-on with a westbound tractor trailer. Both semi-trucks ignited after the accident.

One of the drivers died.  The other driver was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center where he was treated for serious injuries. The fiery accident closed Westbound I-40 at milepost 277 for around eight hours. Traffic was redirected off the interstate there and re-entered the freeway at milepost 275. The section of interstate reopened just before 10 a.m.
