Three Semis Involved in Fatal I-10 Accident
Tonopah, Arizona (April 18, 2018) – Due to an early morning fatal I-10 accident, eastbound traffic at milepost 79 shut down for a few hours. The 5 a.m. accident on April 17th involved three semi trucks, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
A detour diverted traffic over Vicksburg Road to U.S. Route 60. One lane was reopened just prior to 2 p.m. for eastbound travel on I-10.
Chain Reaction Ends with One Injured and One Dead
An accidental roll over started a chain reaction of events that resulted in one injured and also one dead. From details released, a second semi truck came upon the overturned first truck and stopped in time to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, a third semi was not able to stop in time and ran into the back of the second truck causing it to hit the first truck that rolled over on its side.
After the chain reaction, the second driver suffered minor injuries that were treated at Abrazo West Hospital. The third driver, identified as 35 year old Jatinder Bains, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the rolled truck was not injured.
