Tempe, AZ (June 22nd, 2018) – An Uber driver for an autonomous vehicle allegedly caused a crash that killed one person.
While the vehicle was in autonomous mode, driver Rafael Vasquez was reportedly watching Hulu. According to the Tempe Police Department, Vasquez did not see the pedestrian, Elaine Herzberg, until seconds before the crash because she was looking at her phone.
Herzberg, 49, died of her injuries.
According to a police report, Vasquez could be charged with vehicular manslaughter.
