One Person Dies in Lyon County Two-Car Accident on Highway 50

Lyon County, Nevada – One person was killed and another was seriously injured following a rollover traffic collision in Silver Springs last month, according to Nevada State Police Highway Patrol.

The fatal two-vehicle crash happened at about 6 p.m. on December 18, 2024, at Highway 50 and Apache Drive near Stagecoach.

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol said a 2015 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound in the number one travel lane of Highway 50 approaching the intersection with Apache Drive.

The driver of the Tacoma slowed down and was preparing to turn around when the Tacoma was rear-ended by a 2000 Honda Accord with two occupants also traveling westbound on US-50 in the number one travel lane.

The impact caused the Honda Accord to overturn and one of the occupants died at the scene, according to NHP. The identity of the deceased was withheld pending the next-of-kin notification.

Another occupant of the Honda Accord was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the Tacoma remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.

No additional information is available at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
