Poly-Drug Driving Top Cause of Fatal Accidents
Statewide (January 31, 2024) – Data from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC), found poly-drug driving, which involves two or more substances, is the most common cause of impairment in impaired-related fatal crashes in Washington state. Since 2012, the combination of alcohol and cannabis has been the most frequent poly-drug found in fatal crashes. Poly-drug impaired drivers are now more prevalent than those under the influence of just alcohol or one other drug.
