Tow Truck Driver Runs a Red Light in Flagstaff Killing 1 Cyclist and Injuring 4 Others

Flagstaff, Arizona–The Flagstaff Police Department were called to the intersection of Butler Avenue and Beaver Street at around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, for a tow truck cyclist collision. Responding officers stated that 58-year-old tow truck driver Normand Cloutier of California entered the intersection travelling westbound after the light turned red.

Six bicyclists were then struck by Cloutier once they entered the intersection after their light turned green. One of the cyclists was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. The sixth cyclist refused treatment at the scene.

While this tow truck cyclist collision incident remains under investigation, Flagstaff police spokesman Sgt. C. Odis Brockman said that Cloutier has been charged with causing a death by a motion violation.
