Phoenix, AZ (July 9, 2018) A driver going the wrong-way may be facing charges after crashing into another vehicle early Monday morning on SR-51 in Phoenix.
The accident happened shortly before 5 a.m. on north State Route 51 close to the Thomas Road exit.
The suspect, in his 20s, was travelling southbound in his Mercedes sedan against traffic in the northern lanes. He collided with a Honda CRV and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to the DPS, the victim, a female driver in her 50s, also received minor injuries, but was not transported.
Impairment was a factor in the crash according to highway troopers. The suspect will face jail time on several charges after release from the hospital.
Several lanes were closed because of the crash and have since reopened.
