Two people died during a wrong-way collision on September 15 while traveling I-10 near milepost 222. The deadly wreck happened just outside of Casa Grande, Arizona at approximately 3:53 p.m. Traffic was later reopened for travel at Picacho Peak Road (milepost 219) at 11:22 p.m.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the deadly wrong-way crash.
Dangerous Stretch of Road Between Casa Grande and Tucson
Sadly, this is not the first wrong-way accident to have happened on this stretch of road between Tucson and Casa Grande. In June of 2018, a wrong-way driver collided head-on with another vehicle on I-10 near Casa Grande. The at-fault driver died at the scene, while the other driver was flown to a Chandler hospital for medical treatment.
