Tempe city bus, car and police officer involved in collision

Tempe, AZ (May 5,2018) An officer-involved accident near McClintock and Alameda is currently under investigation. The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Two other vehicles, in addition to the officer, were involved in the collision. These vehicles included a Tempe city bus and a red car.

According to Lt. Damon DeSpain, Tempe Police Department, an officer was travelling northbound on McClintock, in a gray SUV. The city bus was also headed northbound, and there appeared to have been a collision between the red car and the bus that then proceeded into the officer’s vehicle.

Emergency responders stated that four people were transported to the local hospital. The driver of the bus and the officer seemed to have only received minor injuries. The driver and a passenger from the red car were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic was briefly closed in both directions due to the collision.
