1 teen dead, 2 injured after car accident in Phoenix

(Sept. 13th, 2018) Phoenix, AZ — A 17-year-old girl died on Thursday after critical injuries in a car accident the night before.

The Phoenix Police Department said the girl was injured in an accident near 32nd Street and Union Hills Drive on Wednesday night.Two other teenagers who were involved in the car crash, suffered injuries that ranged from minor to critical.

The car crash occurred when the driver of a Kia Optima failed to stop for a red light at Union Hills and crashed into a Ford F-150 truck. The force of the crash caused the Kia Optima to then crash into a different F-150 truck.

All of the passengers in the Kia Optima were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The 17-year-old girl was one of the Kia Optima passengers.

The driver of the Kia Optima, an unidentified 18-year-old man, was hospitalized in critical condition. The other passenger, a 16-year-old boy, had minor injuries.

The driver of the first Ford F-150 that was involved in the crash, a 51 year-old man, was processed for possible alcohol impairment and suffered minor injuries. The driver of the second Ford F-150, a 32-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
