Somerton, Arizona (March 26, 2018) – Jesus Banuelos-Cruz died and a woman experienced injuries Sunday morning after a head-on crash in Somerton. The deadly accident occurred at around 6:41 a.m. on Sunday, March 25 at the intersection of Avenue G and County 19th Street.
According to the authorities, Marianne Chairez, 21, was driving a red 2016 Dodge sedan westbound on County 19th Street. 69-year-old Jesus Banuelos-Cruz was operating a white 1991 Nissan truck traveling eastbound. At this point Chairez passed another vehicle but failed to re-enter the westbound lanes and collided the Nissan head-on.
Medical responders declared Banuelos-Cruz deceased at the site of the crash due to life-threatening injuries. In addition, Chairez received transport to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
